Once known as Emergency Veterinary Services, we have been serving our community for over 30 years. We are now Columbia River Veterinary Specialists. What this means is we’ve taken the very best in 24/7 emergency care and added specialty services - right here, in Vancouver. Our Veterinary Specialists are experts in Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Surgery and Cardiology. We act as consultants, supporting the practice of your regular veterinarian. Veterinary Specialists, like human specialists, have devoted themselves to a specific course of advanced study and training. After completing four years of Vet School a Veterinary Specialist’s advanced training typically includes a one year Internship followed by a three year Residency in their area of specialization. Following their Residency, they must pass a rigorous exam before being able to call themselves a ‘Specialist’. Veterinary Specialists are dedicated to their field of expertise.
